A studio born not in comfort, but in the fires of real war, real pain, and a faith that refused to break.
Buddy Lee Dobberteen is a decorated Marine Raider and combat veteran whose life was shaped by some of the hardest crucibles a person can walk through. He served with distinction, carried the weight of war home in ways most people never see, and was eventually told by doctors that he would never walk again.
He walks. He runs. He builds.
Through recovery, faith, and an unshakeable belief that God was not finished with him, Buddy found a new mission: using the medium of video games to tell stories that matter. Stories of courage, redemption, endurance, and the kind of faith that only forges under fire.
PR5 Games — Pale Rider 5 — is the result. A studio named with military precision, built with purpose, and anchored in Christ from its very first line of code.
Buddy serves as a Marine Raider, completing multiple combat deployments. The experiences that would later form the beating heart of Road from Horno are lived — not invented.
A serious injury leaves medical staff with little hope for recovery. Buddy is told to accept a life without mobility. He refuses. Through sheer will and unwavering faith, he defies the prognosis completely.
During recovery, the idea takes shape: video games as a vehicle for stories of real courage, faith, and human resilience. Not propaganda — honest stories. Games that meet players where they are and show them something true.
Pale Rider 5 Games is officially established in Spring Branch, Texas. The studio’s mission is defined: Christ-centered games that rival the best in the industry. The first Game Design Document is written for Road from Horno.
Road from Horno enters active development. Four additional titles are greenlit: Steelbound Legacy, The Raiders, TSOA, and Swamp Craft. The team grows. The Kickstarter launches. The community begins to form.
The Raiders and Swamp Craft are targeting 2025 release dates. Road from Horno approaches gold. The studio expands its publishing arm to support other developers building faith-aligned games. The mission grows.
A small, dedicated crew united by a shared mission and a common faith. Distributed across the US, building together.

Jesus is the cornerstone of everything we do. Without Him, our work is empty. With Him, it has eternal purpose.
Every line of code, every stroke of art, every melody is an offering back to the Creator who gave us the gift in the first place.
Fairness, honesty, and Biblical truth guide how we work — with developers, with players, and with each other.
Christian games should rival the very best the industry has to offer — not as a copy, but as a testimony to God’s greatness through us.
We believe stories can bring real peace, hope, and encouragement to those who carry trauma, grief, or doubt. That matters more than reviews.
Games should bring people together. Our vision is a space where families, veterans, believers, and seekers can share something real.
Wishlist our games, back the Kickstarter, follow the journey on social media, or simply pray for us. Every person who walks alongside this studio helps us build something that lasts.
